Apple iPhone 4 selling outright and unlocked as well as locked on telcos plans in Australia

Australia Telcos (Optus, Telstra, Three and Vodafone) announce their iPhone 4 plans. They appear to only be offering the iPhone 4 locked on plans but Apple is selling the device outright and unlocked.

Top Gear UK - Season 15, Episode 2 - July 4th, 2010

In the Top Gear UK - Season 15, Episode 2 that aired on July 4th, 2010. Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are given £5000 each to go out and buy 4-door saloons that could be used every day but that could also be used on a track. They then head to Germany to test them in a series of tests with Ford Sierra Cosworth, Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth and BMW M3.

In the test, they uploaded their Track Day Video to YouTube for Viewing Hits Rating.

2011 Volvo S60 - Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake

2011 Volvo S60 is redesigned, with more sporty, more power, and new features. This car comes in a single T6 trim level with standard all-wheel drive. Its churn out a 300-horsepower from a turbocharged 3.0 litre in-line 6 cylinders engine. The powerplant mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission.Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. Blind-spot alert and lane-departure warning are available.

Newly standard on the 2011 Volvo S60 is Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake. This system uses uses sensors to detect pedestrians who might step in front of the vehicle. Check out the video for demonstration!

RIM has responded to Apple's Job "misleading comments"

RIM has responded to Apple's "misleading comments" by Steve Jobs at the iPhone 4 press event, claiming that they had "avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4."

Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM's customers don't need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.

Apple offers free protective cases or refunds to iPhone 4 owners

Apple will give free protective cases to buyers of its latest iPhone to alleviate the so-called "death grip" problem in which holding the phone with a bare hand can muffle the wireless signal.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs announced the giveaway on Friday during a news conference at its headquarters, even as the company denied the iPhone 4 has an antenna problem that needs fixing.

The more than 3 million people who have bought the iPhone 4 and new buyers through September 30 will all be eligible.

People who purchased the USD 29 "Bumper" cases will be refunded.

Jobs began the event by saying, "We're not perfect," but was quick to point out no mobile phone is perfect. He played a video showing competing smartphones, including a BlackBerry from Research in Motion, losing signal strength when held in certain ways.

In designing the iPhone 4, Apple took a gamble on a new design, using parts of the phone's outer casing as the antenna. That saved space inside the tightly packed body, but means covering a spot on the lower left edge of the case blocks wireless signal.

Consumer Reports magazine said covering the spot with a case or even a piece of duct tape alleviates the problem. It refused to give the iPhone 4 its "recommended" stamp of approval for this reason, and it had called on Apple on Monday to compensate buyers.

On Friday, in the company's first remarks following the magazine's report, Jobs said Apple was "stunned and upset and embarrassed".

Jobs said the iPhone 4's antenna issue isn't widespread. He said just over five out of every thousand users have complained to Apple's warranty service, and less than 2 per cent have returned the device.

"We're not feeling right now that we have a giant problem we need to fix," Jobs said. "This has been blown so out of proportion that it's incredible. I know it's fun to have a story, but it's less fun when you're on the other end of it."

Analysts have criticised Apple's first responses to reports of reception problems as dismissive.

Jobs apologised to buyers who had less than perfect experiences.

"We're going to do whatever it takes to make them happy and if we can't make them happy we're going to give them a full refund and say we're really sorry we inconvenienced you, and we're going to do better next time."

The refund applies even for those who have long-term contracts with AT&T Inc., the iPhone's exclusive US wireless carrier.

Jobs, a cancer survivor, also addressed a question about his health on Friday.

"I'm doing fine. I was even better earlier in the week (when) I was having a vacation in Hawaii, but I decided this was important enough to come back for," he said. "I'm doing great."

2010 Volkswagen Passat CC 2.0 TSI

Back in October 2009, Volkswagen Group Malaysia had announced the availability of the Passat CC and Scirocco to the Malaysian market. Both models are offered with 2.0 TSI turbo-charged engine (2.0L TSI) that producing 200PS (147kW) @ 5,100-6,000rpm and 280Nm @ 1,700-5,000rpm. This car is capable of delivering a top speed of 232km/h and 0-100 km/h in 7.6secs.

Initially, the Passat CC is powered by 6-speed Tiptronic Auto Transmission to front wheel. But now, you will get the 6-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG) and 5 seats instead in the 2010 imported models.

It comes with luxury Nappa leather upholstery, In-dash 6 discs CD changer, RCD 510 touch screen head unit with reverse camera, Bi-Xenon headlights for low beam as well as high beam, Electric Panorama tilting sunroof, 18” alloy wheels with 235/40 R18 tyres and 5 years warranty.

The rear VW logo will tilt to pop out the Reverse Camera when shift to Reserver gear.

The steering wheel is light as it is electrically assisted and maintenance free. It comes with all-round disc brakes with Bosch 8.0 ESP with ABS, EDB, BA, EDL and ASR. Basically, the safety feature wise is fully equipped with dual front airbags, curtain airbag for front and rear passengers, side airbags for front passenger, ISOFIX for child seats. Overall, this car is rated with 5-Star under Euro NCAP.

The new Volkswagen Passat CC is fully imported (CBU) from Germany and the car goes On-The-Road (OTR) in Peninsular Malaysia excluding insurance from RM245,060.00.

How to Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone 2G on iPhone OS 3.1.3 in Windows

Recently, I have worked and tested on upgrading the iPhone 2G from OS 3.0 to 3.1.3 that is locked to AT&T. I followed the instructions from iClarified by using RedSn0w to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 2G. Somehow, I found there is a bit unclear on the instruction steps that mislead over to an error of “Unable to recognize specified IPSW” for me.

Obviously, I was panic at that moment that the phone almost turns to be brick as I can’t activate the phone and it is locked to AT&T as well.

But no worries now, it is fixed. All you need is to upgrade to OS 3.1.3 and run RedSn0w with OS 3.1.2 Firmware in order to unlock and jailbreak it. Please note, only applied to iPhone 2G!

First, Download the following files and place them in the Pwnage folder you just created:

- RedSn0w
- BL 3.9
- BL 4.6
- 3.1.3 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw
- 3.1.2 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

Second, connect your iPhone 2G to computer and launch iTunes. Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down shift and click the Restore button. Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the firmware ipsw. Click the Open button to continue.

Third, once iTunes has finished updating your iPhone to the desired firmware you may launch redsnw0w.exe from the Pwnage folder on your desktop.

Fourth, once RedSn0w opens click on the Browse button and select the OS 3.1.2 firmware. After that, it will show “IPSW successfully identified”. If you have selected the OS 3.1.3, it will show the above error “Unable to recognize specified IPSW”. So make sure, you select 3.1.2 when unlock and jailbreak.

Fifth, from this window you can select “Install Cydia” and “Unlock”. If you have already pwned your device selects the “Already pwned” option. Then press Next button.

Last before complete, you need to specify the location of the 3.9 Bootloader and 4.6 Bootloader, press Next to continue. It is necessary to unlock the iPhone 2G. Now, plug the iPhone into the computer and make sure it’s OFF then click the Next button. RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode to upload the new RAM Disk and Kernel.

Pirelli confirmed as F1's new tyre supplier from 2011 to 2013

FIA has confirmed that Pirelli will take the reins from Bridgestone as formula one's official control tyre supplier from 2011 to the end of the 2013 season.

Following months of uncertainty and bids from the likes of Michelin and Hankook, the FIA announced that Pirelli's bid had been successful, at a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) on Wednesday.

2011 Hyundai Sonata will be launching in Malaysia on 2nd July 2010. Preview from 25 to 29 June 2010

Let's welcome the 2011 Hyundai Sonata to Malaysia.

The car will be open for preview for public from 25 to 29 June 2010 over at Hyundai Glemarie Showroom. The preview will be from 2pm until 9pm on weekdays including saturday and 2pm to 7pm on Sunday. Moreover, the car will be officially launching on 2 July 2010.

Frankly, I think this is one of the best Korean car that designed till date! Amazing!
