Sixty Minutes: Rev Heads
Jeremy, Richard, and James were interviewed by Cameron Williams from Channel 9, Australia in Sixty Minutes. They're three middle-aged rev-heads, the unlikeliest of stars. But, believe me, this scruffy trio are big and not just with the blokes.
"Top Gear" is now one of the most watched shows on the planet. Top Gear's as much about craziness as cars.

BMW to abandon high-revving engines in M cars
Tough emissions standards worldwide and soaring manufacturing costs in Germany are behind BMW's decision to switch from high-revving, naturally aspirated engines in its M high-performance vehicles to turbocharged direct-injection powerplants, beginning as early as next year.
M3's 4.0-liter V8 and the M5's 5.0-liter V10 both engines will make way for forced-induction engines in coming years, according to high-ranking BMW sources.
The first M vehicle to make the move to the new turbo powerplants is the X6 xDrive M, which will challenge the Porsche Cayenne GTS and the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG. Set to appear next June, the X6 xDrive M will be the first model to run BMW M's new twin-turbocharged V8. This engine is also earmarked for the next-generation M5, due out in late 2010.
Based on the standard X6 xDrive 5.0i's 4.4-liter 90-degree V8, the new twin-turbo unit is said to match the current M5's naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 for power at 500 hp, while providing as much as 516 lb-ft of torque. This M-powered X6 should be enough to provide 0-100km/h acceleration of less than 5 seconds and top speed limited to 250 km/h.

Best Car: Toyota iQ Convertible
Japan's Best Car magazine have come up with what appears to be a computer enhanced image that gives us an idea of what a Toyota iQ Cabriolet could look like if such a version were to be produced.
While rumors across the pond make word of a more sporty roadster version of the iQ, Best Car seems to believe that Toyota would most likely go for a more simple approach removing the front and rear parts of the hatchback's rooftop, leaving a center section that would not only act as a safety roll-bar, but also add to the structural integrity of the vehicle.

FN2 Civic Type R going to Japan?
Rumours that Honda is considering importing the UK-built FN2 Civic Type R to Japan and selling it along side the JDM FD2 Civic Type R.
On some levels such a decision to import FN2 to Japan makes sense as the FN2 is a two-door hatchback with much sharper styling than the FD2, and would probably prove popular with buyers wanting a 2-door Type R with a bit more visual verve.
The FN2 is apparently set to go on sale in Japan in the first half of 2009 by Honda Japan.

Honda to Shut Down British Plant for Two Months + Reduce Production in Japan
Honda, the Japanese automobile manufacturer, announced to idle its British plant in Swindon for two months in February and March as part of a global production cutback that it has announced 'in response to a dramatic change in the global automobile market'. The Swindon shutdown will mean that Honda will produce 21,000 fewer vehicles at the Wiltshire plant that builds CR-V models alongside European Civics.
The plant's 4,800 employees will be laid off for the two month duration of the closure, although the company said that they will continue to receive basic pay.
Honda management alleges that company is facing problems with euro and labeled its investment an error in Swindon. Japanese automobiles giant asserted that company invest in UK as they thought that it is a part of Europe. Honda’s President Takeo Fukui shows their apprehension and said
The exchange rate of the pound against the euro is very difficult to forecast. Unless the UK joins the eurozone, we can’t add to plant in Swindon.
Honda threatened to close its UK plants. Japanese No.3 automobiles anxiety over euro is growing disappointment among Japan’s industrialists over the strong pound, now trading at multi-year highs against the dollar, the Swiss franc and other currencies.
Honda also announced on Friday that it will reduce output at one of its Japanese plant by a further 40,000 vehicles.

A reality wake-up call for generation Y
The children of the economic boom - generation Y (born between 1976-1995), are about to get a reality wake-up call. This economic downturn will prove a turning point for those now aged between 15 and 30 as fewer job options in a contracting economy force them to make compromises for the first time since they were born.
The younger people accustomed to job jumping will find it harder to secure a position as vacancies start to dry up at this economic climate.
The generation Y is the most educated in history. As they are articulate, confident, well-travelled, and knowledgeable. They are incredibly plugged in, good with relationships and identifying opportunities.
However, the real question at this wake-up call will be, will they able to adapt to jobs and tasks that they don't really enjoy. Will they just grin and bear it, or will they maintain their flighty ways?
Generation Y has never known a high degree of uncertainty like this before. Probably, at point of time is the time for generation Y to learn something that never experienced before!

Lexus to Debut 2010 RX450h and RX350 SUV in the States
Just a few moments ago, Lexus issued an official press-release stating that it will stage the world premiere of the all-new 2010 RX 450h Hybrid and RX 350 SUVs in LA during the first press day of the show on 19th November 2008
Lexus insists on not releasing any photos of the third-generation RX before the press conference in LA on 19th November 2008, there is a leaked Japanese brochure that I posted previously.
Below are a few phone camera shots that made their way into the web recently have provided us with a first look of the luxury SUV/Crossover.
On the outside, the Toyota's or Lexus's new proposal in the luxury SUV segment sports a sort of blink-and-miss-it evolutionary styling. The interior however is another story as it has been completely revised featuring a more contemporary design.

Toyota to Bring Subaru Co-developed RWD Coupe as a Scion TC in 2011 for U.S. market
Rumors that Toyota will market its Subaru co-developed rear-wheel-drive coupe as a Scion in America have been swirling around the net ever since the two Japanese automakers made their plans official this spring. But now we've received word that it's true.
According to the inside source of carscoop, Toyota officials in the U.S. confirmed that the affordable RWD coupe will indeed arrive in the States in late-2010 / early-2011 as the new Scion TC. Further details weren't provided but from what we know up until now, both the Toyota / Scion and Subaru variants of the two-seater compact coupe will get an all-new platform with power coming from a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine pumping out around 200HP.

TMNET and the Contact Center Staff Goes Nuts again...
I have something to share regarding my experience dealing with TMnet Contact Center Staff which supposedly graduate from SPM only?
Evening of Yesterday, my internet connection getting the Public IP: 58.27.105.138 or 58.27.105.142. But my router shows my DHCP assigned-IP which in the range of 218.111.198.XXX.
When i try to lookup my Public IP via website (e.g. [whatismyip.com] or [ip.iptelnow.com] or [checkip.dyndns.com]) It shows 58.27.105.138 or 58.27.105.142 randomly which supposedly showing my actual Public IP: 218.111.198.XXX.
Anyway, the IPs 58.27.105.138 or 58.27.105.142 are belongs to TMNET.
Due to the routing table of TMnet, I believe it causes this proxy-effect of my internet connection. Further, I have checked with my friends that staying surrounding. We all having the same Public IP when we lookup from the website (Randomly of 58.27.105.138 or 58.27.105.142).
Hence, i am kind enough to pick up the phone and dial 100. Explaining to the "Call Centre Agent" the scenario. The lady do not understand what i am saying. She ask me to restart the Modem and re-connecting again. Then telling me, their system show my IP address is 218.111.198.XXX which is correct. And repeating telling me that your IP is dynamic and NOT STATIC IP so it will be randomly changed over the time... Duhh...
So, I try to explain to her again. I know but when I do a lookup via website it shows 58.27.105.138 or 58.27.105.142 which is incorrect. It seems like a Proxy-effect that going thru a gateway. The whole Subang Jaya is having a same Public IP which is impossible. This affect my VPN not working, Statistics Logger not working, and my RealVNC that running on Dynamic IP Updater also not working...
I explain that I hope that you can file this report and highlight to your engineer to get it resolve. It something goes wrong at your gateway router and routing tables. Then, she put me on hold for 20 mins on the phone... In return by telling me, we do not support your VPN or whatever application that running. For more technical issue, you can send email to the helpdesk email address. And saying Bye Straight Away!
Then, i stopped her by telling her, is this how you serve your customer? I filing a technical issue, you telling me Bye? This is a issue happening to your Internet Network and the whole Subang Jaya having 1 Public IP address... She reply by saying WE DO NOT SUPPORT YOUR VPN OR WHATEVER APPLICATION. At last, I gave up on this idiot but asking her name because i told her i want to file a complaint regarding this. Anyway, her name is SARAH. So remember her name, a terrible customer service agent.
TMNET, please hire a better knowledged technical support agent! Thank you!
Anyway, now everything is working fine with correct Public IP address resolved.

SEMA: Civic HFP (Honda Factory Performance) Concept Sedan
At the SEMA show Honda revealed the Civic HFP (Honda Factory Performance) Concept sedan that secures improved fuel economy without compromising the vehicle's performance or styling. It's based on the Civic Si with the powerful high-revving i-VTEC engine but has aerodynamic elements from the Honda Civic Hybrid in order to improve fuel efficiency.
Honda claims that this is done through aerodynamic improvements to the next generation HFP body kit, the addition of super-light alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers, a lighter HFP exhaust system and an upgraded HFP suspension kit, all of which offer the possibility of improving both fuel economy and performance.
According to Honda, this Civic HFP (Honda Factory Performance) Concept sedan having the similar package has been used on the Civic Type R FD2 track car, which campaigned in a Japanese series called the Super Taikyu (スーパー耐久, Suupaa Taikyu, translated as Super Endurance).

Why Aston Martins use Volvo keys?
Referring to an article with supporting pictures at CarMagazine UK, I am surprised that I found Aston Martins uses Volvo keys! - How come?!?!
We should hardly be surprised, since we all know that Astons dip into the expansive Ford parts bin for everything from sat-navs to switchgear. But you do expect them to at least go to some lengths to remove the original badging.
Turns out not, as one Aston V8 Vantage owner - 'Rio Prestige Car Hire' discovered when his expensive leather-wrapped key fob got scuffed by the customer. There, under the damaged hide, it was clearly written 'Volvo' lying underneath! What an embarrassment...
