HP computers 'racist' claim

hp.png

A US man posts a video online claiming his new face-recognition webcam does not work with black faces. In another word, is this technology developed to be 'racist'??

HP - "The Computer Is Personal Again", should be rephrase to "The Computer Is Racist Now"

Update this Post:

On 21 December 2009, Hewlett-Packard Co. said that they are looking into the facial-tracking software used in its personal computers, after a customer calling himself “Black Desi” posted a YouTube video, where he says that "Hewlett-Packard computers are racist."

According to Hewlett-Packard, the software is designed to find faces by measuring the contrast between the eyes and upper cheek and nose. It however, fails to do so if the skin complexion is darker.
